My daughter just phoned me.

She is in the States,

New Hampshire.

She sounded sad -

She has a kidney infection

And has been to the hospital in

  - I can't remember the name of the town

  - It's twenty miles north of Lincoln.

They gave her morphine

For the pain

And antibiotics

Which she can't get today

Because it's Sunday,

And in Lincoln, New Hampshire

In the United States of America

The pharmacy stays closed

On a Sunday.

She sounded sad, and tired

And sent her love.

"How is Jake?" I asked,

And she said that he was fine

And that he was looking after her.

When we said our goodbye

She was going to snuggle

Under a duvet.

I sent a kiss down the line.
