Investment 2/1/2008
We are urgently looking for someone who is willing to make an investment or philanthropic donation of R80,000 - R100,000 in this woodcraft company. Only in this way will we be able to expand and employ some of the unemployed locals. Persons or companies interested please contact Liz or Mike.
Lightning 1/22/2008
I know this initial blog has nothing to do with woodcrafts, but I thought it would make a good opening blog. Last week our farmhouse was struck by lightning. We usually unplug all phones and computers at the slightest hint of a thunderstorm, and had just unplugged a roving phone from the mains in the bedroom when there was a large bang, and a simultaneous and very visible arc of electricity from the wall socket to the bedroom floor, about 12 inches from Liz's bare foot. Here are pictures of the hole the size of a baseball in the roof, and the minute burn mark left in the carpet.

Green Mamba 2/29/2008
We have a green curtain in our office dividing it from our library. Eunice, the maid, was dusting there on Friday when she suddenly screamed - lying there on top of the curtain was a green mamba - a young one about 50cms long but very live. I was out at the time so Liz called our neighbour, Wendell, who came to sort out the situation with his son, Richard. Oh the joys of living in the countryside!
